After deciding upon my chosen piece of concept art, I thought the right thing to do was to contact the artist who created the original piece. Artstation is where I first found Fangzhou Hu, he replied later that day in response to me asking his permission to use the piece. Below is the piece that I will use to create my 3D environment, "Teenagers Bedroom 1986."

I originally contacted him back in March 2020, as I wanted to use his piece to influence my entry into The Rookies competition, however I did not create the environment I entered pieces I had already produced. After reading through the brief I realised that I can go back and use his piece for my final project. I contacted him again asking for permission to use it in my degree; he agreed, as long as I put his name in the description. As a helping hand when creating the initial blockout for the scene, I figured that I could ask for the dimensions for the room, as this would save me a lot of time trying to calculate it by using existing items within the room.

Now with this information I can create an almost accurate recreation of the scene, ensuring the scale is correct and proportional throughout the room. At the point of receiving this extra information about the level dimensions I had already started the first pass of the blockout, therefore I will go back next week and make adjustments to my modular wall pieces. Fangzhou Hu has been a great help, I feel honoured to recreate his scene in a 3D Game Environment, and am very much looking forward to its development.
